Very impressed with El Barrio. Service was great and food was amazing! Come early so you can get a table.

I am quickly falling in love with this place. Went for lunch and sat at the bar. All of the bar staff were very friendly!!! Second time to get the pozole verde, and it is literally soul warming. You can tell when something is from a can and something is REAL, and this is the real deal holy field lol. I also tried the sopa seca which I learned is a Mexican dish and it's only available for brunch on Saturdays. It's basically like a tomato spaghetti with a soft boiled egg on top and avocado and pico de gallo. It sounds like a weird combination, but it definitely worked. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items

Best brunch I've had in Birmingham. Lovely atmosphere with attentive staff. The sopapillas with pork carnitas were unique and flavorful, and the candied jalapeños were the perfect touch. The AM Burrito was the highlight as it was packed with flavor. It paired deliciously with their house made Serrano pepper salsa and mango habanero salsa. The sweet iced Mexican coffee was rich and delicious.

Had lunch at this cute little restaurant. Amazing food! Great service! We got our food quickly

I love going to el Barrio! My all time favorite dish is their seasonal Chicken Escabeche. It is hands down the best chicken I've ever had. Pair it with their seasonal guacamole with strawberries, jalapeños, and candied bacon. Top notch meal. I also love their brunch menu and service has always been great.

El pastor tacos are amazing. Great lunch spot. Parking can be a bit tricky but overall I would definitely return

If you want amazing authentic food, you must try this place. A friend of mine introduced me and I've been back several times without her! The guacamole is always super fresh and delicious. Cocktails are great too, freshly squeezed juices used daily. The entrees are simply amazing.

El Barrio is worth the wait always. This is one of our favorite restaurants located on 2nd Avenue north. Can valet or street parking. Vibes are so lively inside. We love starting dinner with queso and salsa. You truly cannot go wrong with any menu item. We have loved the tostadas, enchiladas, ceviche, and tacos. It's hard to secure a dinner spot here, but I will be coming back time and time again!

We started with the seasonal watermelon marg and it ranks within the top two I've ever had. Phil sandoval's frozen raspberry marg is tied. But the watermelon marg was so light and fresh and didn't taste like syrup. (Around $10) Brooke said the plantain nachos were her non-negotiable and I understand why! Crispy plantains with pork, pickled jalapeños, cotija, and lime crema. So different but it was a nice blend of sweet, spicy, savory, and freshness from cilantro. Don't skip these! (9) I got the chicken enchiladas and they were truly some of the best I've ever had. I don't like chicken to taste like chicken (Iykyk) and this covered it up nicely. The corn tortillas were divine and had pulled chicken, peppers, cotija, and pickled onions atop red rice. The green tomatillo and red chipotle sauces added a nice, bright touch without being too spicy. (17) Brooke got the carne asada and loved every bite. A sirloin with chile-potato gratin, arugula, grilled onions and salsa borracha. (24) We saw cornbread on our neighbors table and had to try it too. It comes with jalapeño honey butter and I will get this every time! (4) Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. Parking is downtown so it's a nightmare. Plan for a few extra minutes to drive around looking for a spot. Will see definitely be back though!
